Reflections📚

Reflection of the first session The first session of the spring semester, 2022 has begun today, dated 01/03/2022. It was refreshing and meaningful as it used to be. Basically, today’s session was going through the semester term plan. Went through the objectives of this semester to make ourselves clear and aware of learning. My takeaway messages from this session are, the importance of using ICT in teaching and learning. Integrating ICT-based instructions in the classroom has become more effective than our traditional methods of teaching. ICT is more reliable in the field of teaching and learning. It helps the learner to develop and strengthen knowledge of upcoming situational technologies. Skills that we learned in or through ICT are lifelong. I also felt it is vital to design an individual road map of ICT, in which I have to set at least a goal of learning ICT in this module. This helps individuals to be more focused and attentive in learning this module. it will keep lear...

Three Levels of ICT Integration

Reflective summary for three-level of integration of ICT 1.       Basic level of technology integration It basically means the integration of basic knowledge of technology in the classroom to enhance learning. It includes showing tutorial videos, images, and animations in learning using PowerPoint Presentation. The teacher uses spreadsheets for calculation and recording. Tutors upload the reading materials in particular forums and let students download those materials for more information. 2.       Middle level of technology integration The middle level of ICT integration involves creating simulation lessons to engage the learning. Teacher designs learning activities using application software. Necessary follow-up of activities is practiced. The teacher keeps assessments for learners to check their learning. 3.       High level of technology integration It is about improving existing conditions...

GeoGebra and GraphCal

Image
What is GeoGebra? It is Mathematics software that is highly being used in education. GeoGebra in interactive software in which Mathematics and Science are discussed from primary level to university level. It makes teaching and learning easy and enhances teaching skills and learning.  What is GraphCalc?  GraphCalc is software that provides the functionality of graphing calculations.  GraphCalc includes many of the standard features of graphing calculators. It is an all-in-one solution to everything from everyday mathematical analysis. GraphCalc combines all features of mathematics which makes both teacher and learners comfortable in teaching and learning and enhances teaching and learning competence.

Construction of Equilateral Triangle using GeoGebra

Image
Construction of Equilateral Triangle using GeoGebra Steps:  Click on the GeoGebra icon.  Create two points (point A and point B). Draw a line segment from point A to point B.   Draw a circle from point B. Draw another circle from point A. Mark point C using the ‘intersect two objects’ tool. Then, draw a line segment from point B to point C, and then point C to point A. Now, hide two circles. To hide the circle, right-click on the circle and then click on ‘show object’. To save your work, click on the file, and then export your work in ‘graphics view as picture (png, eps)’ form.

ICT as Situating tool

ICT as Situating tool What is situating tool? It is a virtual reality environment. Situating tools are systems or applications which situate users in an environment where they may experience the context and happening. Situating tools are virtual realities, 3D computer-simulated images experiential learning environments, simulation, and instructional games. Situating tools provide students to conceptualize the ideas of the real world by integrating the theories into the practical applications of real-world situations. Example: Graphical and GeoGebra Why do we need situating tools in the classroom? Situates users in the environment Comprehend and manipulate variables Communicate with other user’s login (an online game using social media) Foster creativity and visualization skills How do we integrate situating tool in teaching and learning? Experience of virtual reality environment using Google earth of the visiting place and knowing about the world Calculate the distance of the...

Google Docs as Co-constructive tool✍🏼

Google Docs is a free web-based application in which documents can be created, edited, and stored online. Files can be accessed from any computer and mobile phone with an internet connection. users of Google Docs can import, create, edit and update documents in various fonts and file formats, combining texts with formulas, lists, tables, and images.  Work can be published as a web page or as a print-ready manuscript. Users can control who sees their work. It lends collaborative projects in which multiple authors work together sharing ideas in real-time from different locations. All participants can see who made specific documents and changes are done.

Google classroom as constructive tools

Google Classroom is a learning management system. It is an e-learning platform in which both teachers and students can access each other's information and idea-sharing. It has immense advantages as follows; 1. Students can easily access information. 2. Teachers and students do not need face-to-face interaction. 3. Teachers need to be experts in content creation. 4. Teacher creates and collects paperless assignments. 5. students keep track of learning tasks and assignments. 6. Provide real-time audio instructions, and  7. Integrate digital tools.  I have learned how to create google classroom and how to upload reading materials and PowerPoint presentations for students.  Then, record video and voice instructions in google classroom. I also learned how to assign questions and quizzes to students.

Video tutorial as tool for teaching and learning

The most important idea that I learned from this session is about video tutorials. What is a video tutorial? It is an instructional video guide in which subject contents are taught through video. The importance of video tutorial is immeasurable, they encourage learners to think critically, makes learning easy, and also influences independent learning. The contents taught through video tutorials last for a longer period in learners’ memories. It motivates learners as visual learners are particularly benefitted. It also influences micro-learning, which means learners can learn in their own way. Video tutorials are implemented in the classroom in that teachers must plan lessons, gather information from different sources, and organize and synthesize them before putting them in video tutorials. Some of the vital tools for creating video tutorials are such as Camtasia Studio, screencast-O-metic, and screen castify.

Digital Citizenship

What is digital citizenship? Digital citizenship is about effective and responsible use of technologies, providing the right information, creating awareness of digital effects, and giving advocacy to people who are unaware of digital citizenship. Good digital citizenships are constructive contributive citizens. Browse safe and appropriate websites. Protect our own information and respect others. Acknowledge others’ work and say NO to cyberbullying. Use timely, wisely, and sensible use of technologies. Why is it important to learn about digital citizenship? Learning about digital citizenship helps me to understand how we should act when using digital tools and interacting with others. It also helped to know the appropriate use of technologies in the digital world. Elements of digital citizenship  i. Digital access Every individual has the right to access information, but not all people get the opportunity to access the same information. We have to be cautious about accessing informa...
